So you wanna know, huh?

How far back would you like me to go?  Well, I’m not going to go too far back.

I’m originally from Canada (and yes, still a citizen) but at present, and for the past 10+ years, have been an English teacher in Taiwan.

I moved to Tainan city shortly after my arrival in Taiwan in 2002.  For the better part of this time, I had been out of contact with my family.  My work life here in Taiwan was busy, and I must say, more enjoyable than I had anticipated.  Early in 2010, one of my cousins got in touch with me through Facebook, and since then, I have remained in contact with my immediate and extended family.

My life in Taiwan has, as with being anywhere, had its ups and downs.  Thankfully, most have been ups!  One of the highlights of being here, was being introduced and ‘nudged’ by my mother to write a blog.  Thus, they would be able to get an idea of what I was doing here in Taiwan.

I was pretty good about keeping my blog up to date, but in 2011, with various other issues going on, I stopped.  This year, upon celebrating my 50th (OMG!) year on this planet, I decided to start writing my blog again.

I try to write at least 1000 words per blog.  May sound like a lot, but then again, I have a lot to say.  I incorporate pictures and at times, links to videos for a bit of diversion.  My blog could actually be considered a diary of my daily life here in Tainan.

Since many of my readers are also my students, I try to keep the language ‘clean’, although, at times, it is difficult.  However, this is my blog, and to get my students to read and improve their English levels, I endeavour to keep things interesting, informative, and not too personal.

I encourage people to place comments, although I’m not reliant on these comments.  I have also indicated several times that I rarely comment back.  It’s not that I’m ignorant to my readers or don’t care, it’s just that, writing a 1000-word essay every day, does take a bit of time.  Besides, there are other ways of contacting me if one feels the need to get a response.
